Lifelong Fascination with Interiors

Laurene McGarry's fascination with design, color, and architecture began at an early age.

Throughout the years, Laurene's decorating philosophy has remained the same: Choose what you love, buy the best you can afford, and follow your own style and preferences rather than what's hip or what someone else says you should have. "Only then will you have a timeless home that is a true reflection of you, says Laurene!"

One distinction that separates Eclectic Design Concepts, LLC is the owner's ability to incorporate existing furnishings and accessories with new elements to tell a client's life story. An interior should showcase where clients have traveled, what their hobbies, interests, and loves are; or what style of living they enjoy.

Laurene is known for her enthusiasm, energy, and client service. A deep love of color, textures, accent lighting, and eclectic blending of furnishings and accessories can be seen in much of her work. Working closely with her clients, Laurene creates warm, inviting interiors that first and foremost reflect the client's taste and preferences.

Why Eclecticism

Eclecticism is the "Selecting or employing of individual elements from a variety of sources, systems, or styles."

Eclecticism has been on the rise for about a decade its popularity is growing due to market trends and shifts in our own tastes inspired by travel and other life events.  Through the years we accumulate furnishings and accessories from travel, precious items from our parents, grandparents and friends, and then all of a sudden we discover that nothing works together.

In today's design, there are ways to join unlike elements in a way that makes them work together to create a unique space.  No longer is it uncommon to take an old painted piece and pair it with a brand new, more contemporary piece - an old French writing table with a clear ghost chair for instance. By juxtaposing elements, a refined, shiny object lives in harmony with a dull, old one, each drawing attention to itself while emphasizing the importance of the other to create depth and individuality that just one décor style could not provide.

Our homes should be a reflection of us - our travels, our hobbies and interests, what's important to us, our personality and how we live each day.  Eclecticism celebrates the juxtaposing of styles, periods, color and more . . . and with a twist.  It is a style that suits many clients as rooms may be updated more easily as fad styles and colors come and go and may be added to as more furnishings and accessories are accumulated throughout life.
